Terms of Service for Knapsack
Effective Date: March 21, 2026
Welcome to Knapsack ("Knapsack", "Knapsack Travel", "we", "us", or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our app (Knapsack Travel), website at knapsck.com, and services (together, the "Platform"). By using Knapsack, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use our service.
1. Use of the Service
You must be at least 18 years old (or have a supervised account if under age) to use Knapsack. If you are under 18, you must review these Terms with your parent or guardian and obtain their permission before using the Platform.
You agree to:
- Provide accurate account information
- Use the service only for lawful purposes
- Not reverse engineer, modify, or attempt to extract source code
2. Acceptance of These Terms (Including User-Generated Content)
Certain features of the Platform allow you to view, post, or interact with content from other users ("User-Generated Content" or "UGC"). Before you access or contribute UGC (including feeds, profiles, comments, messages, shared trips, photos, videos, or other social features), you must agree to these Terms.
There is no tolerance on Knapsack for objectionable content or abusive users. Objectionable content includes, without limitation, content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, harassing, hateful, discriminatory, violent, fraudulent, or that infringes others' rights. Abusive behavior includes harassment, stalking, threats, hate speech, spam, impersonation, and coordinated harm. Violations may result in immediate removal of content, suspension or termination of your account, and reporting to law enforcement where appropriate.
By using UGC features, you also agree to the safety and moderation commitments in Section 7 below.
3. Account and Data Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account. You agree to:
- Immediately notify us of unauthorized access
- Not share your credentials with others
- Not give others access to your account or transfer your account without our permission
We may revoke, reclaim, or reassign your username in certain circumstances, such as prolonged inactivity or if we reasonably believe it violates these Terms or infringes the rights of others.
4. Account Creation and Deletion
If you create an account, you may request permanent deletion of your account and associated personal data subject to the following.
In the app: You may initiate account deletion through the Knapsack Travel app in your account or privacy settings (for example, Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account). Confirmation steps may be required to prevent accidental deletion.
On the web: You can find instructions and a direct starting point for account deletion on our website: Account deletion (account-deletion.html on knapsck.com). That page describes how to complete deletion in the app; if you cannot use the app, it explains how to contact us to finish the process.
Deactivation or disabling an account without permanent deletion, if we ever offer it, is not a substitute for deletion where you request full erasure. We do not require you to call us or send physical mail to delete your account; email or in-app flows are sufficient unless applicable law in a highly regulated sector requires otherwise.
Some information may be retained after deletion where the law requires it, for legitimate security or fraud-prevention purposes, or in aggregated or de-identified form as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Acceptable Use
You may not use Knapsack to:
- Harass, abuse, or harm others
- Violate laws or third-party rights
- Interfere with our systems or networks
- Upload content in violation of applicable laws, including laws requiring consent of individuals whose images appear in your content
- Upload viruses or malicious code
- Engage in impersonation, spam, or inauthentic commercial behavior
- Use or attempt to use another user's account without authorization
- Scrape, crawl, or otherwise extract data using automated systems or bots without our written approval
6. Ownership of Content and Licenses
Your Content includes content you create, import, upload, publish, or generate with Knapsack, including trips, photos, videos, comments, messages, and information you submit to our AI-powered features. You own Your Content.
By creating and publishing content on Knapsack, you grant us a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use Your Content for the purposes of operating, improving, and providing the Platform. This includes the right to access, reproduce, distribute, display, and adapt Your Content.
If you choose to make Your Content available to other users, those users may be able to view, share, and interact with it in accordance with these Terms.
You represent that you have all necessary rights in and to Your Content. If you submit comments, ideas, or feedback to us, you give us permission to use them without restriction or compensation.
7. User-Generated Content, Community Safety, and Moderation
This Section supplements Section 2 and applies to all UGC features.
a. No tolerance; your conduct
You must not post objectionable content or engage in abusive behavior (as described in Section 2). We may use automated tools, human review, and community reports to enforce these rules.
b. Filtering
We use technical and operational measures designed to filter or limit objectionable content where feasible, including basic and advanced automated detection, policy-based rules, rate limits, safety classifiers, and manual review—so enforcement is not limited to reactive reports alone. No system is perfect; you should still report content that violates these Terms.
c. Reporting (flagging) objectionable content
The Platform provides a way for you to report or flag content or conduct that you believe violates these Terms. Reporting is available wherever user-generated content from other users is shown, including (without limitation) feeds, posts, comments, direct messages, profiles, shared trips, photos, videos, and place or review content. Look for a "Report," "Flag," or equivalent control on or next to that content or account. When you submit a report, provide accurate information so we can investigate.
d. Blocking abusive users
You may block other users through the Platform's block feature where available. When you block someone, we remove that person's content from your experience without undue delay using both server-side rules and client-side filtering, so their posts, messages, profile material, and other UGC are excluded from your view as soon as the systems can apply your block. Blocking notifies Knapsack (us) so we can review inappropriate behavior or content associated with that user under these Terms.
e. Our response to reports
For valid reports of objectionable content or abusive behavior that we substantiate, we strive to take action within twenty-four (24) hours, which may include removing or restricting the content, issuing warnings, or ejecting repeat offenders through suspension or termination of the offending user's account, or other appropriate measures. We maintain internal procedures so our team can respond within this timeframe when reports are actionable. Complex cases, legal process, or high-volume periods may occasionally require more time; we will prioritize safety and communicate when we can.
f. General moderation
We may remove or restrict access to any content, including yours, if it violates these Terms, may cause harm, or if we are required to do so by law. You can delete your own content at any time, or delete your account to remove Your Content as described in Section 4.
8. Service Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify or discontinue the service at any time.
9. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property related to Knapsack, including software, design, and trademarks, are owned by us or our licensors.
10. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
Knapsack is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for:
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Loss of data, revenue, or profits
- Content posted by users (we do not guarantee accuracy or quality)
- AI-generated output (use at your own risk; do not rely on it as professional advice)
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. You may stop using Knapsack at any time. You may permanently delete your account as described in Section 4.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Knapsack and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Platform or violation of these Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and applicable U.S. federal laws, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
